CYUT has organized a series of orientation activities for foreign students to help them be integrated into the learning and living environment
In order to allow foreign students to be integrated into a better learning environment as soon as possible, Office of International and Cross-Strait Cooperation of CYUT organized a series of orientation activities for foreign students. CYUT has also arranged group-based sports activities for foreign students, attracting more than 500 foreign students to participate enthusiastically. The office arranged not only performances of clubs such as Fong-Yang Guitar Club and Long-Hun Recreational Guidance Association but also group-based sports activities that let foreign students who have just arrived in CYUT be familiar with every corner of the campus. Tao-Ming Cheng, president of CYUT, said CYUT has been actively building a multicultural environment and has also achieved fruitful internationalization. CYUT not only won the World University Rankings 1000+ by Times Higher Education for 2 consecutive years, but also was ranked Asian University Rankings 301-350, Emerging Economies University Ranking 350+ and Asia-Pacific University Ranking 250+. It is worth mentioning that CYUT is the only private university of technology in Taiwan that enters these 4 lists. In addition, CYUT has signed academic cooperation agreements with 628 overseas schools, including the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, India, Nepal, Israel, Jordan, Mongolia, China, Hong Kong, Macao and other countries with a view to making students more internationalized in their perspective through cultural exchanges and learnings. Wen-Der Yu, dean of Office of International and Cross-Strait Cooperation, said that in addition to these intimate foreign student orientation activities, CYUT has also arranged a series of celebrations on the Dragon Boat Festival, the Moon Festival, Christmas, and Spring Festival to relieves students’ nostalgia in Taiwan. Besides, CYUT also plans "Traveling around Taiwan" – an activity for foreign students to experience deep human touches of Taiwan during their studies in CYUT. Furthermore, some faculty members serve as "Host Families" and arranged "Buddy Program" to help foreign students improve their study greatly and help them be accustomed to life in Taiwan.
