On Christmas Day 2019, Chaoyang University of Technology unwrapped a great gift from the ROC Air Force, a retired S2-T (Grumman S-2 Tracker), and unveiled its mascot, an anthropomorphic black-winged kite. Like the aircraft that tracks submarines to guard the coasts, kite is a bird that preys on mice to keep them from damaging the local crops. The ceremony held on campus marked an annus mirabilis for CYUT that celebrated its first 25 years, and the foundation of the Aviation Engineering Department that would wing the school's way into an unlimited future.
