To respect diversified cultures, CYUT provides special Lebaran Lemang experience to make Muslim students feel delighted and grateful.

Under the threat of Covid-19, a large number of CYUT Islamic Indonesian students cannot return to their hometowns during Lebaran and experience the daily fasting during the annual Muslim holidays of Eid-ul-Fitr. In order to help overseas students who tend to suffer from homesickness and nostalgia, CYUT organized the "Lebaran Lemang Experience" activity. CYUT Office of International and Cross-Strait Cooperation prepared organic black beans cultivated by farmers in Youcai Village, Baozhong Township in Yunlin County. The cultivation of black beans has been instructed and guided by CYUT Green Center of Agriculture. Like making Lemang in their hometown, more than 20 Indonesian students experienced a similar cultural experience of making rice dumplings before the traditional Dragon Boat Festival in Taiwan, which symbolizes reunion of family members. This special Lebaran Lemang experience at CYUT was extremely precious.

CYUT President Tao-Ming, Cheng said that CYUT has been actively moving towards internationalization in recent years. There are about a thousand international students every year. Currently about 50 Indonesian students are studying at CYUT. Considering the unique dietary habits of Muslim students due to their religious beliefs, CYUT sets up "Halal" "Friendly Kitchens," which are used by Indonesian students to cook their hometown dishes. Besides, CYUT is equipped with an exclusive "Prayer Room" to provide Muslim students with a place to worship. Creating a Muslim-friendly campus environment has been CYUT’s endeavor to show mutual respect and tolerance of diversified religious and cultural beliefs.
