CYUT Roof-Top Solar Energy Panels Generate Annual 1.1 Million NT Dollars

In order to construct multiple renewable energy resources, CYUT has built a solar power generating system with a capacity of nearly 600 kw on the campus, equivalent to the carbon absorption of a Daan Forest Park. It is estimated that the annual revenue of this green energy is 1.1 million NT dollars.

Besides increasing the usage of renewable resources, the solar panels of this on-campus system not only are heat-proof but also can lower down the temperature of top-floor classrooms 2.5℃, saving AC electricity bill by 20%. In addition to solar power generators, CYUT also takes advantage of topographical features of CYUT campus to build a small hydropower system, converting potential energy into electric energy to link city power system. Furthermore, other renewable energy resources, such as wind and solar thermal energy, are also installed on the campus. Thus, CYUT has been certified by Environmental Protection Administration, Executive Yuan as Environmental Education Facilities and Venues to formulate related courses, such as energy conservation, disaster prevention, sustainable ecology and water resources as a way to promote energy education.

Condensing Energy Technology Company, a new start-up enterprise cooperating with CYUT to establish rooftop solar power generating system, has long been guided and instructed by CYUT’s Business Incubation Center. Condensing has obtained the national invention and brand-new style patents of solar power supply device by its innovative embedded structure construction method and well-equipped integrated electromechanical system. In the future, Condensing will also help the newly-built Aviation Building and Wind-Rain-Proof Playground on the campus. In addition to invigorating industry-academy cooperation and increasing employment opportunities of students, Condensing will also help alma mater develop the idea of sustainable education and create a demonstration venue of energy-saving campus.
