Hearing-impaired entrepreneur Kirin Huang donates NT$1.2 million to CYUT

Kirin Huang, a hearing-impaired entrepreneur and CYUT alumnus, donated NT$1.2 million to his alma mater in gratitude for the support he received from his teachers. His donation will provide scholarships for disadvantaged students and improve campus accessibility, benefiting future students.

"My success comes from CYUT!" said Kirin, a graduate of the Department of Information Management. Though he graduated 20 years ago, he remains thankful to his teachers, especially Ms. Li-Wen Lee from the Special Education Center, and the volunteer who helped him overcome communication challenges. Their support enabled him to excel in IT and build a successful business.

As a serial entrepreneur focused on system development and digital optimization, Kirin has expanded his business, securing a patent for a social media backup system and receiving government grants to enter the global market.

President Tao-Ming Cheng expressed the university’s gratitude, commending Kirin for overcoming his hearing challenges and achieving remarkable success. President Cheng also emphasized CYUT’s commitment to fostering an inclusive campus, as evidenced by its six consecutive years in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings. As Taiwan’s first technological university to establish a Special Education Center, CYUT has supported over 1,800 students in the past 30 years, encouraging them to pursue their dreams despite limitations.

Assistant Vice President Shih-Tsung Hsu, Dean of Alumni Services and Career Development, noted that CYUT’s 90,000 alumni around the world embody the university’s spirit. Kirin’s generous donation strengthens the bond between alumni and CYUT, inspiring others to give back and support the university’s mission and growth.
