CYUT Senior Academies: Celebrating Lifelong Learning and Community Engagement
The 2024 Achievement Exhibitions and Graduation Ceremonies of CYUT Senior Academies in Taichung’s West and Tanzi Districts showcased the impressive learning accomplishments of senior participants. Both events featured dynamic performances, including singing, dancing, drum performance, and Chinese instrumental music performance.
Since its establishment, CYUT Senior Academies in both districts have offered diverse, innovative courses in culture, information technology, language, arts, recreation, and fitness. These programs provide seniors with opportunities to apply what they have learned to everyday life and foster greater social engagement. The academies have seen strong participation from seniors, including those over 90 years old, reflecting their dedication to lifelong learning.
A particularly heartwarming moment occurred at the Tanzi District Senior Academy, where two participants, Ms. Kuo and Ms. Lee, who were middle school classmates over 54 years ago, unexpectedly reunited through the academy. They expressed gratitude to the academy for the opportunity to reconnect and rekindle their friendship while exploring new knowledge together.
CYUT is committed to promoting lifelong learning and fostering social inclusion through its Senior Academies, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By providing diverse educational opportunities, these academies empower seniors to remain active, engaged, and connected to their communities, contributing to a more inclusive and sustainable society for people of all ages.
