The school received notification from the Health Bureau of Taichung City Government at 20:30 on 18th May 2021 that a student is suspected diagnosed with COVID-19 after first tested positive. Taiwan Center for Disease Control immediately sent the student to the China Medical University Hospital for treatment.
The school immediately started the epidemic response plan after receiving the notification. The President, Cheng Tao-Ming, presided over the emergency epidemic prevention meeting and instructed related units to implement preventive measures according to the epidemic preventive procedures of the Central Epidemic Command Center including relocating the case and teachers and students with close contact, large-scale disinfection of the whole campus, investigation on the environment and close contacted teachers and students. Anticipated that these measures could ensure the health of all teachers and students, and maintain campus safety.
Roommates living with the case are relocated to quarantine hotels for home isolation in accordance with the community risk of infection tracking management mechanism and the relevant regulations of the Command Center. Students living on the same floor are relocated to other dormitories for self-health management. The school has arranged them for rapid test and they are required to stay in self-health management room for 14-day self-monitoring. In addition, the entire block of the student dormitory has been emptied in the morning for large-scale cleaning and disinfection simultaneously.
To reduce the risk of community transmission, the school has implemented online teaching from 17th May 2021 and is now extended to 8th June 2021. All faculty members are split into groups to take turns coming into the office starting from tomorrow. The President especially reminded all faculty members and students to stay alert and implement preventive measures to keep the campus safe.
