校長 鄭道明 謹啟
Dear faculty members and students,
Peace be with you! I write again to inform you that as of 22nd May 2021, we have a total of 1,655 faculty members and students going through the COVID-19 rapid test. Although there were 31 first-tested positive cases, they turned out all negative in their PCR tests. In yesterday's conference, the Mayor of the Taichung City Government, Lu Shiow-Yen, announced that the infection cases of our school did not indicate spreading out at the moment. As a result, the government had removed the Command Center at CYUT and strengthened the disinfection of campus and surrounding environments.
The school cares very much about the impact of this epidemic and implements all kinds of anti-epidemic actions. We shall continue to improve. I have to say thank you to our friends who had given us helpful advice and encouragement during the past few days. Under the conduction of and assistance from the Epidemic Prevention Team of the Taichung City Government, our faculty members and students can grasp the updated status.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees and I would like to thanks our faculty members who worked nights and days in the past few days. Our profound respect and gratitude to Mayor Lu, the team of the city government, and the medical professionals involved. I have to draw your attention again to the following:
1. The immediate threat is relieved at the moment. Nevertheless, we still have to be careful for the coming two weeks. Keep paying attention to the health of your good self and your family. If there are any situations, please inform the school at once.
2. Put aside criticism and blaming. Instead, we shall support each other. We shall believe that CYUT will become better and stronger. Our passion for teaching and learning shall reign.
3. I hope that there is no complaint and mistrust between teachers and students. The Student Development Center provides online counseling/consultation services for those who are in need. Let our mind and soul reclaim calm and peace again.
4. This semester is ending and will soon come to the final exam. I advise teachers to discuss with students the most feasible way of assessing their performances.
To combat the epidemic, wash hands frequently, wear masks, do not go outside unless necessary, stay alert and do good in safety protections. It is time to replace blaming and accusing with care and encouragement and rebuild cohesion, respect, and love. As a member of Chaoyang, we have to expand our visions, care for global sustainable developments, and set up a new model for responding to campus crises. There will always be sunshine after the rain. We shall never give up. Take care and good luck!
