Ambassador of Palau and Delegate of Papua New Guinea visit CYUT

Chaoyang University of Technology is honored to have H.E. Ambassador Dilmei Louisa Olkeriil from the Embassy of the Republic of Palau, Counselor Wang Sheng-Chieh, and Representative Mr. Tommy Kambu Kunji from the Independent State of Papua New Guinea visiting the school last week. They received a warm welcome from the CYUT team led by President Cheng Tao-Ming.

“This is my third visit to CYUT and the objective this time is to discuss future collaborations, promote mutual exchanges, and send outstanding students to study in Taiwan,” said Ambassador Olkeriil. She stressed that the Republic of Palau, located in the Western Pacific Ocean, cares about climate change, ocean conservation, and the sustainability of the ecological environment. She appreciated CYUT sharing the same goals with them and praised CYUT as a quality university. Ambassador Olkeriil especially invited Representative Tommy Kunji to join this visit to learn more about the professional facilities and excellent teaching team. She hoped to facilitate more overseas students to study in Taiwan and contribute to the fellowship of friendly countries.

“Our international students reached five continents. We have signed collaboration pacts with 640 overseas institutions and initiated inter-university student exchanges for long-term partnerships. We are grateful for having the opportunity to expand our international reputation through the Ambassador's recommendation,' said President Cheng Tao-Ming. The daughter of Representative Tommy Kunji was so impressed after visiting the CTLS full-motion flight simulator that she decided to pursue study at CYUT. Ambassador Olkeriil also bridged children of local officials to study in Taiwan. They have already applied for Taiwan scholarships and received admissions notice, soon to become new members of the College of Aviation.

Chiang Chih-Hung, Dean of the College of Aviation, introduced that the full-motion flight simulator is the same as a real flight, and the College will soon purchase A320 and B747-400 static flight simulators to complement the existing B747-400 and B777-300ER procedure trainers. The flight simulator is only one of the features of the College of Aviation. The College has invested NT$500 million to construct the Aviation Building with cutting-edge equipment and facilities for flight, maintenance, and other aviation-related training. The College will soon set up its third department, the Department of Air Transport Management, and start enrolling students in 2023. Together with the existing Department of Aeronautical Engineering and Department of Aviation Technology, the College dedicates to train up professional and all-rounded aviation personnel for the industry.
