FinTech Forum 2022 stresses Sustainable Finance
Extreme climate and imbalanced regional development affecting global sustainability have become primary financial and economic issues. Departments of Finance, Insurance, and Accounting from the College of Management co-hosted the FinTech Forum 2022 last week. Leaders from renowned investment firms and insurance companies gathered to explore sustainable finance from the standpoint of financial supervision, financial insurance, professional institutional investors, and third-party certified public accountants.
In the face of net zero carbon emissions by 2050, the call for transformation is bound to change the shape of corporate development. Financial institutions begin to focus on green energy and green loans, inevitably leading to more financial products and investment opportunities in the future. Enterprises joining the forum stressed that the transformation started in March 2022 when the National Development Council released Taiwan's Pathway to Net- Zero Emissions in 2050. Enterprises are shifting from corporate social responsibility (CSR) to sustainable development in environmental, social, and governance (ESG). The Financial Supervisory Commission Taiwan is requesting listed companies to disclose information following the standards in corporate governance and ESG, directing companies to put more effort and consideration into their responses and actions under global sustainability issues. The forum offered participants an opportunity to collectively address the impact of global economic, social, and climate risks and build sustainable finance for enterprises, society, and the environment.
