Corporations support CYUT student mobility program

CYUT launched a student mobility program in 2018 to help disadvantaged students realize their dreams and promote upward mobility. This year, the school received a donation of NT$250,000 from Hsinchu North Rotary Club and Elite's International Montessori School Hsinchu. President Cheng Tao-Ming extended his gratitude to donors for their generous support.

The program operates through a fundraising scheme. A dollar donation from corporations would result in the same charitable giving from CYUT and the government, reaching a triple donation. The scheme won great support from all walks of life, and more than NT$49,000,000 was raised in the past five years, benefiting 32,069 students. With the incentive offered, students no longer rely on part-time jobs that hinder their learning but are free from financial concerns for various opportunities such as cross-disciplinary learning, social and cultural activities, domestic and international competitions, overseas exchange, professional certification, etc. It facilitates deprived students to take care of their studies and livelihood at a time.

“We hope more companies can join us to make a difference for our younger generations and their families. We once received help from others when we were young and poor, and it's time to give back,” said the Chairman of Hsinchu North Rotary Club.

“I'm glad the incentive supported me to join an invention contest in Malaysia, and I won an award! This life-changing experience helped me secure a job as an IT Engineer before graduation. I couldn't ask for more,” said one of the students. The program has proved to be more caring and holistic than solely subsidizing or waiving tuition fees.
