President Cheng Tao-ming receives Outstanding Professional Award for Sustainability
At the 2023 Global Corporate Sustainability Awards (GCSA), President Cheng Tao-ming of Chaoyang University of Technology received the Outstanding Professional Award for notable contributions to sustainability and integrating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into campus development. Heading to CYUT's 30th anniversary, President Cheng has steered the university towards excellence, globalization, and sustainability. CYUT has consecutively ranked among the top 100 in the GreenMetric World University for six years and held a position in the Times Higher Education World University Impact Rankings for five years. According to the University Social Responsibility (USR) Survey of 2023, CYUT is Taiwan's best university for environmental sustainability. In addition to offering 4,000+ sustainability-related courses, CYUT publishes annual sustainability reports and aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045 and a 2% yearly reduction in energy consumption.
The university strongly supports President Cheng's commitment to globalization and sustainable development. CYUT actively promotes urban decarbonization, invests in renewable energy, practices climate-related financial disclosure (TCFD), assists local schools in energy efficiency, and significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions. President Cheng's governance excellence is also evident in his achievements in the PICMET Leadership Technology Management Award and the Outstanding President Award from the Association of Taiwan Private School Culture and Education. CYUT also secured the Gold Award for Sustainability Reporting in this year's Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA). These achievements highlighted CYUT's commitment to transparency, sustainability, and a better future.
