March 30 marked an unforgettable day as CYUT celebrated its remarkable 30-year journey of excellence, globalization, and sustainability. During the grand ceremony, we took a moment to reflect on our triumphs and express gratitude to all who have contributed to shaping our path. We honored outstanding alumni and students and paid special tribute to senior faculty members who have dedicated 30 years to CYUT’s mission. We were grateful to have esteemed guests, including Mayor Lu Shiow-yen, Deputy Director Eric Ke from the Department of Technical and Vocational Education, as well as distinguished scholars like Prof. Dr. Ralph Schneider from OTH Regensburg in Germany, Prof. Akito Takasaki from Shibaura Institute of Technology in Japan, and Prof. Benny Lianto from Universitas Surabaya in Indonesia. This day also marked the inauguration of our Global Alumni Network, a new chapter dedicated to fostering worldwide alumni connection and collaboration.
Under the visionary leadership of President Cheng Tao-ming and the unwavering dedication of our faculty and staff, CYUT has consistently excelled in THE World University Rankings. Additionally, we have proudly entered the QS Sustainability Rankings for the first time, highlighting our dedication to environmental stewardship. CYUT has continuously secured positions in Young University Rankings, Impact Rankings, Asia University Rankings, Business & Finance Rankings, Computer Science Rankings, and Engineering Rankings, underscoring our leading position in academic research and social influence.
Embracing globalization, CYUT has achieved remarkable results by expanding its network to over 640 partner institutions worldwide. We have welcomed international students and esteemed scholars to our vibrant community, with our faculty members listed in the world’s top 2% of scientists. Meanwhile, we have prioritized sustainability, offering over 4,000 SDGs-related courses and pledging to reduce energy usage by 2% annually. We are dedicated to achieving net-zero emissions by 2045.
In fulfilling the university’s social responsibility, the CYUT International Volunteer Team has embarked on impactful projects in Tanzania and other countries, benefiting over 23,000 individuals through initiatives like building libraries, improving water facilities, and supporting orphaned children. Our USR programs extend our reach beyond campus, addressing societal and industrial changes through regional revitalization efforts. From assisting farmers in adopting toxic-free agriculture to fostering eco-friendly environments and promoting intergenerational learning, CYUT remains steadfast in its commitment to sustainable development.
Over three decades, CYUT has nurtured over 90,000 alumni who have made significant contributions to society on a global scale. Alumni associations have flourished in Taiwan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Korea, Macau, Indonesia, Mongolia, India, and Japan, strengthening connections among CYUT graduates across the globe. Looking ahead, CYUT will strengthen its bonds with alumni worldwide, uniting the alumni community to enhance social influence and break new ground.
