CYUT secures the top spot in nationwide USR Rankings

The CommonWealth USR University Citizen Rankings, a highly regarded USR survey nationwide, has unveiled its 2024 results. This year's survey covered 145 public and private universities in Taiwan. CYUT emerges as the leading private technological university for its outstanding commitment to university social responsibility (USR).

These rankings referenced the Impact Rankings of the Times Higher Education (THE) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), assessing universities' USR performances through 40 indicators, encompassing university governance, community engagement, teaching commitment, and environmental sustainability.

CYUT pledges to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions by 2% annually and achieve net zero by 2045. Its constant appearance in the Impact Rankings and placement among the Top 100 in the GreenMetric World University Rankings underscore its steadfast commitment to SDGs. In 2024, CYUT also secured a spot in the QS World University Sustainability Rankings, the sole private technological university listed.

Through USR programs, CYUT extends its reach beyond the campus to respond to societal changes, collaborating with communities on local care, talent development, environmental protection, and fostering civic engagement. From 2023 to 2024, CYUT received government subsidies for five USR projects, including initiatives focusing on environmental sustainability, cultural heritage, sustainable farming, urban-rural co-existence, grain recultivation, and intergenerational interaction. Its commitment to community engagement shapes social innovation and regional revitalization, resulting in positive outcomes.
