CYUT welcomes aviation students from Purdue University
CYUT is glad to welcome aviation students from Purdue University for a two-week international exchange program. Purdue University, renowned for its world-class engineering accomplishments, has a rich history of over 150 years, nurturing over 600,000 alumni with notable contributions to science and engineering. Neil Armstrong, the first person to walk on the moon, is among its distinguished alumni. As a Purdue alumnus, President Cheng Tao-ming was inspired by his alma mater to establish the College of Aviation at CYUT.
Purdue University houses the first university airport in the United States and is the first to offer a bachelor's degree in aviation. This visit, led by Professor Lu Chien-tsung from the School of Aviation and Transportation Technology, allows students of Purdue to experience innovative training through flight simulators and flight planning competition, along with CYUT's advanced facilities like the Flight Scenario Simulation Classroom and VR-Equipped Air Traffic Control Tower.
CYUT is committed to global engagement, with collaborations spanning 640 institutions worldwide. Last year, six CYUT aviation students received professional flight training at Eva Flight Training Academy in the United States, and this year, CYUT plans to offer scholarships in partnership with Purdue University.
CYUT's Department of Aviation Technology is the sole collaborator with national airlines in Taiwan to provide professional flight training. Plans are underway to establish specialized classrooms covering various aspects of aviation operations. This exchange with Purdue University presents CYUT with an opportunity to enhance its global reach and cultivate aviation talent through practical training and industry exposure.
