Cold Weather Alert: Protect Your Heart from Cardiovascular Risks

As winter brings persistent cold weather, it is important to safeguard cardiovascular health. We share eight tips from the Health Promotion Administration to reduce cardiovascular risks:

  1. Wear Warm Clothing

Scarves, hats, thick socks, and other warm clothing are essential.

  1. Avoid Early Morning Exercise

Heart attack symptoms are more likely to occur in the early morning.

  1. Drink Warm Water in the Morning

Start your day by drinking 300cc (about 10 ounces) of warm water.

  1. Take Medication as Prescribed

Follow your doctor’s instructions, take medications on time, and monitor your blood pressure regularly.

  1. Avoid Overeating

Eating habits such as buffets and hot pot meals increase cardiovascular risks.

  1. Carry Medical Information When Going Out

Older adults or individuals with chronic conditions should carry emergency medications.

  1. Avoid Hot Baths After Meals

Sudden blood vessel constriction caused by hot baths after eating can lead to fainting.

  1. Seek Immediate Medical Attention if Symptoms Arise

If you experience chest tightness, chest pain, or difficulty breathing, seek medical care immediately.

Take preventive steps, watch for warning signs, and act fast in emergencies to safeguard your heart health!
