CYUT promotes low-carbon diets and senior well-being

To support low-carbon diets and environmental sustainability, CYUT’s Nantun Senior Academy has launched the Wellness Dining Workshop. This initiative educates elderly participants on balanced diets, nutritional knowledge, and food safety while fostering awareness of food sourcing. The program has received widespread acclaim for promoting healthy and eco-friendly lifestyles.

Nantun Senior Academy, under the administration of CYUT’s Office of Continuous Education, has been actively promoting lifelong learning for 14 years, offering nearly a hundred diverse courses annually to enhance senior education and social engagement. The Wellness Dining Workshop is co-led by sustainability trainers and a local consumers’ co-op, guiding seniors in preparing nutritious, low-carbon meals using seasonal, locally available ingredients. By making simple, easy-to-cook dishes that are both healthy and environmentally friendly, the program helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions while improving senior well-being.

To encourage more elderly individuals to step out of their homes and engage in hands-on healthy cooking, the Wellness Dining Workshop emphasizes the use of locally sourced ingredients and seasonal produce in crafting well-balanced meal options. By providing nutritious, carefully planned meals, the program enhances senior health and overall happiness.
