CYUT shapes the future of global aviation talent

CYUT has invested NT$700 million to develop a comprehensive aviation training center. In just four years, the College of Aviation has established the Department of Aeronautical Engineering, Department of Aviation Technology, Department of Air Transport Management, and the Graduate Institute of Aeronautics.
President Tao-Ming Cheng stated that CYUT sent six students to EVA Flight Training Academy in the United States last year for flight training and certification. This year, the university is taking a major step forward by partnering with Purdue University and Southern Illinois University to offer scholarships, allowing students to study at world-class institutions at local tuition rates.
The College of Aviation boasts a complete set of facilities, including flight simulation cockpits, control towers, cabin environments, and security screening systems. Mei-Ling Chung, Director of the Department of Air Transport Management, emphasized that although the department is newly established, it has already made an excellent start, especially with the launch of the "CYUT Mock-up Terminal," which simulates real-world airport operations and has attracted attention from the industry for collaboration across Taiwan.
Currently, the Department of Aeronautical Engineering, the only department with graduates, has achieved a 100% employment rate with starting salaries approaching NT$50,000. Director Yu-Cheng Wang emphasized that one of the graduation requirements is passing an international English proficiency test (IELTS). The department prioritizes helping students earn internationally recognized certifications, ensuring graduates are globally competitive and can find job opportunities worldwide.
The Department of Aviation Technology has built Taiwan’s most advanced aviation training facilities, including the upcoming A330 cabin simulator for separate safety and service training. Director Yen-Liang Lu explained that the department offers specialized courses in flight operations, air traffic control, and cabin service, with state-of-the-art simulation labs, control tower operations, and the soon-to-be-completed A330 cabin simulator. The department aimed at nurturing students to become global aviation talents.
"Aviation graduates face a global job market at the moment they step out of the university," said Chih-Hung Chiang, Dean of CYUT’s College of Aviation. To further enhance the quality of aviation talent, the university has recently invested in establishing the Graduate Institute of Aeronautics, providing students with additional options for advanced studies. With top-notch facilities, expert faculty, and a comprehensive learning environment, CYUT is shaping the next generation of world-class aviation professionals ready to shine globally.
