CYUT sweeps Dual Honors at 2025 Global Views USR Awards
At the 2025 Global Views University Social Responsibility (USR) Awards, CYUT stood out with dual top honors, winning both the Sustainability Reporting Award and the Model Award for Sustainability Curriculum. Recognized for its outstanding contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), CYUT was named the top-performing private technical and vocational university in Taiwan.
President Tao-Ming Cheng accepted the awards, highlighting CYUT’s strong commitment to sustainability. The university has achieved significant reductions in energy use (39%), water consumption (56%), and carbon emissions (49.36%), with a target to reach net-zero emissions by 2045. CYUT has also been listed among the Top 100 in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings for eight straight years.
CYUT actively supports disadvantaged students and ranks in the global 201–300 tier for SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). The university has been featured in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for six straight years, listed in the QS Sustainability Rankings, and remains the only Taiwan institution to receive the Triple E Award for Engaged and Sustainable University from Europe’s ACEEU.
The award-winning initiative, the Intergenerational Learning Curriculum, is led by Dr. Yao-Jen Cheng of the Department of Golden-Ager Industry Management. This program addresses both declining preschool enrollment and increasing demand for senior daycare by introducing a pioneering model of intergenerational learning. The curriculum integrates expertise and resources from CYUT’s Colleges of Management, Humanities, and Design to offer interdisciplinary credit courses, fostering meaningful interaction between generations and promoting social inclusion.
