CYUT pioneers lifelong learning with launch of Third Life University in Taiwan

Taiwan has officially entered a super-aged society. In response to the growing demand for life-long learning, CYUT has launched the Third Life University, a new educational initiative under the Ministry of Education’s pilot project. Unlike traditional community colleges, this program lowers admission barriers, enabling mid- and older-age learners to pursue higher education without competing with high school graduates, while still receiving formal student status.
Beginning in Academic Year 2025, the “Social Innovation and Financial Sustainability” program will offer flexible course options, credit certification, and pathways to formal degrees. Enrollment for the first cohort of 20 participants will open on September 15. The program features dedicated mentors and blended learning formats, including online, in-person, hands-on, and field visits. Course topics include Life at 100 Core Curriculum, AI Innovation, Digital Transformation, Financial Planning, Lifelong Learning & Power of Influence, and Innovation Workshops. Upon completion of 16 credits, participants will receive an official certificate, with opportunities for degree continuation, re-employment, and entrepreneurship.
