Giant moon installation lights up Mid-Autumn Festival at CYUT

At CYUT, the moon feels closer than ever! The Department of Architecture created a stunning 16-foot (5-meter) diameter moon installation, scaled at 1:700,000 of the real moon, bringing the lunar surface right to campus. The glowing sphere, complete with realistic craters and shadows, quickly became a favorite photo spot and added a festive touch to this year’s Mid-Autumn celebration.

The “Fly to the Moon” pop-up exhibit was designed and built by senior architecture students under the guidance of Prof. Yu-Chou Wu, with freshmen also joining the creative process. Department Chair Prof. Po-Yen Kuo described it as a project combining orientation, spatial design, and art, while College of Design Dean Prof. Tai-Shen Huang praised the students’ integration of creativity, materials, and engineering skills.

The installation will be open through October 17, with the moon illuminated nightly from 5:30 PM to 11:00 PM. Visitors are invited to experience this unique and romantic take on moon-gazing at CYUT.
