2025 Global Corporate Sustainability Forum Highlights Net-Zero Progress in Higher Education

The 2025 Global Corporate Sustainability Forum opened at the Grand Hotel Taipei, co-hosted by the Green University Union of Taiwan (GUUT) and the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE), with Chaoyang University of Technology (CYUT) serving as organizer. This year’s theme, “Building a Green, Net-Zero, and Sustainable Campus,” brought scholars and sustainability leaders together to discuss net-zero transition, green campus strategies, and the future of sustainability talent.

CYUT President Tao-Ming Cheng, newly appointed Chair of GUUT, emphasized the importance of strengthening inter-university collaboration, pooling sustainability resources, and deepening partnerships across academia, industry, and government. He stressed that these efforts are essential to accelerating net-zero governance, green innovation, and international cooperation in higher education.

The forum featured keynote speeches by National Taiwan University of Science and Technology President Jia-Yush Yen, National Taitung University President Sheng-Tzong Cheng, and National Taiwan University Emeritus Professor Pen-Chi Chiang, who addressed topics ranging from net-zero building innovation and green university strategy to cultivating sustainability talent with cross-disciplinary and socially responsible mindsets.

GUUT’s Secretary-General Hwa-Nan Chang highlighted that with 76 member institutions, GUUT is Taiwan’s largest sustainability network for higher education. The Union will continue advancing green campus initiatives and strengthening collaboration with government, industry, and global partners to enhance Taiwan’s impact on international sustainability efforts.
