International Students Welcome the New Year with Sustainable Fashion Runway
CYUT’s Department of Marketing and Logistics Management hosted a New Year celebration to help international students experience the warmth and festive spirit of Taiwan’s year-end traditions. Nearly 500 international and local students from Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia, Mongolia, Thailand, and Hong Kong gathered on campus, creating a vibrant and joyful holiday atmosphere.
The highlight of the event was the Sustainable Fashion Design Runway, where international students created innovative outfits using recycled materials such as plastic bags, PET bottles, scrap fabric, cardboard, and fruit protection nets. Through creative layering and skilled craftsmanship, the designs combined bold aesthetics with environmental awareness, impressing the audience and showcasing students’ commitment to sustainability.
President Tao-Ming Cheng emphasized that cultural and festive activities play an important role in promoting cross-cultural understanding and inclusion. Supporting the Ministry of Education’s New Southbound Policy, the Department of Marketing and Logistics Management currently hosts more than 300 international students, providing professional training and industry internships that help students gain practical experience while contributing to Taiwan’s international engagement and workforce development.
