Campus Anti-Scam Alert - The "3 Don'ts & 3 Do's" Everyone Should Know

Scam tactics are constantly changing. All faculty and students should stay sharp, look out for each other, and keep these guidelines in mind to help protect yourself and our campus community.

The “3 Don’ts”

  • Don’t trust phone calls, texts, emails, or DMs from unknown or unverified sources.
  • Don’t fall for part-time job offers that promise “easy money” or unusually high pay.
  • Don’t share personal information such as your ID, bank account details, or login codes.

The “3 Do’s”

  • Do hang up or stop responding to messages that seem suspicious.
  • Do verify the information before taking action—call the Anti-Fraud Hotline 165.
  • Do report it to the police or campus authorities if you think you’re being targeted.

⚠️ Common Scams to Watch Out For

  • 🛵 Fake job scams: Be cautious if someone asks you to transfer money, receive payments, or lend your bank account. This could make you a “money mule” and lead to serious legal trouble.
  • 🪪 Protect your personal data: Never send photos of your ID, bankbook, or account information.
  • 💻 Online transaction scams: Avoid private deals, use trusted platforms, and beware of messages claiming you must cancel installment payments or fix a billing error.

Being cautious can save you from big trouble. If something feels off, pause, check, and don’t rush.
