High School Students Take Flight at CYUT's Aviation Camp

The China Aviation Development Foundation and Chaoyang University of Technology (CYUT) jointly hosted the “Departure & Arrival (D&A) 2026 Aviation Camp” on February 27–28, building on the success of last year’s program. More than 200 high school and vocational students applied, but only 60 were selected by a review committee composed of senior airline executives, making the camp highly competitive.

Organized by CYUT’s Department of Aviation Technology, the camp offered hands-on aviation training, including flight planning, flight operations monitoring, air traffic control and radar simulations, and B777-300ER flight and cabin operations experiences. Students also trained in advanced simulators such as the DA40, DA42, A320-200, and B747-400, and participated in cabin emergency evacuation drills for aircraft including B777-300ER, A330-300, and B737-800. A unique highlight was enjoying an airline meal inside a B777-300ER cabin during the flight simulation, providing a highly realistic airline experience.

The program aims to introduce students to the aviation industry and inspire future careers in the field. CYUT President Tao-Ming Cheng highlighted that the university has made significant investments in aviation education, establishing a comprehensive training system that covers aircraft maintenance, pilot training, cabin services, ground operations, and airport management. Through immersive simulations that recreate the full process of a flight—from departure to arrival—the camp helps students better understand aviation operations while encouraging the next generation of aviation professionals.
