CYUT Earns National Recognition for Water Conservation Excellence

CYUT has been awarded the 2026 Excellence Award in the Water Conservation Competition by Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, becoming the only private technological university to receive this honor. The recognition highlights CYUT’s long-term commitment to sustainable water management and smart campus development.

According to the Water Resources Agency, CYUT achieved an overall water-saving rate of 56.8% between 2010 and 2025, reducing total water consumption by more than 55%. The university’s average daily water use per person is just 20.57 liters, well below the national average for schools.

CYUT attributes its success to data-driven management and continuous infrastructure upgrades, including the installation of water-saving fixtures and the expansion of water reuse systems such as rainwater, reclaimed water, and air-conditioning condensate. The university has also adopted real-time monitoring and leak detection systems to improve efficiency.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), CYUT continues to advance smart water management and promote sustainability through education and community engagement.
