CYUT Marks 32 Years with Strong Global Rankings and Sustainability Gains

To mark its 32nd anniversary, CYUT hosted a grand celebration on March 28, featuring a series of commemorative events. The ceremony honored recipients of the 10th Distinguished Alumni Award, faculty and staff with 30 years of service, and outstanding students. Distinguished guests included the president of Maejo University, Prof. Dr. Weerapon Thongma, Associate Dean Dr. Winitra Leelapattana, and principals from partner high schools and vocational institutions. The event opened with an indigenous performance symbolizing cultural inclusivity and marking a new milestone in the university’s pursuit of sustainability leadership.

Founder Tien-Shen Yang highlighted that, under the leadership of President Tao-Ming Cheng and the collective efforts of the university community, CYUT has achieved sustained academic excellence. The university has ranked among the world’s best for nine consecutive years in the THE World University Rankings and continues to lead Taiwan’s private technological universities in the QS World University Rankings and the U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities. It has also been recognized across multiple global evaluations, including rankings for young universities, top institutions in Asia, and subject areas such as engineering, computer science, business, and education, reflecting both strong research performance and broad societal impact.

Over the past three decades, CYUT has expanded its global reach through partnerships with more than 640 sister institutions and by attracting over 1,000 international students. The university has strengthened its faculty by recruiting internationally recognized scholars, including those listed among the world’s top 2% scientists. In support of sustainability, it offers more than 4,000 related courses, reduces energy consumption annually, and has committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2045, earning a place among the top 50 in the UI GreenMetric rankings. Through its USR initiatives, CYUT supports international volunteer work in Africa and promotes local sustainability projects across Taiwan, aligning with the United Nations SDGs. With more than 100,000 alumni worldwide and an expanding global network, the university is well positioned to enhance its international influence and pursue continued growth.
