CYUT Hosts National Workshop on Student Support and Campus Safety
CYUT hosted the 2026 National Workshop on Whole-Campus Student Guidance at the GIS Taichung Xinwuri Convention Center, bringing together 120 student affairs, counseling, and campus safety professionals from universities across Taiwan. Organized under the guidance of the Ministry of Education, the workshop focused on strengthening campus response systems and improving collaboration during student crisis situations.
The workshop emphasized that student support is a shared responsibility across the entire university, not only the work of student affairs or counseling offices. Through keynote sessions, cross-campus dialogue, and scenario-based exercises, participants explored how academic advisors, counseling staff, campus safety teams, and administrative units can work together more effectively. Topics included student self-harm crises, social media-related incidents, crisis-site response, family-school cooperation, staff burnout, and support for international students.
CYUT President Tao-Ming Cheng said student issues have become more complex in recent years, requiring stronger cooperation across campus systems. He noted that mental health, safety, online behavior, and cross-cultural challenges all call for a more connected support network. The workshop helped universities share practical experience and build stronger procedures so that students in need can be seen, understood, and supported in a timely and caring way.
