CYUT Team Wins First Place in Sustainable Tourism Design Competition

A student team from CYUT’s Department of Leisure Services Management won first place in the 15th National Travel Itinerary Design Competition, a sustainable tourism design contest organized by the Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area Headquarters, Tourism Administration, Ministry of Transportation and Communications. The competition brought together more than 100 students and faculty members from 10 colleges and universities across Taiwan to design creative travel itineraries that support sustainable tourism and local revitalization.

With this year’s theme, “AI × Sustainability × Local Culture,” teams were challenged to create three-day, two-night itineraries that combine digital tools, local resources, and environmentally responsible travel. CYUT’s winning proposal stood out for its practical design, creative storytelling, and strong market potential. Shu-Hua Chang, Section Chief of the Recreation Section at the Tri-Mountain National Scenic Area Headquarters, said the students’ ideas showed how AI, sustainability, and local culture can bring new possibilities to tourism development in the Tri-Mountain area. She added that industry-academia collaboration can help turn student creativity into practical tourism products.

CYUT said the award reflects its commitment to preparing students for the future of tourism and leisure services. Through coursework, field practice, industry partnerships, and project competitions, students gain hands-on experience in smart tourism, low-carbon travel design, ESG-based planning, and local community engagement. The university will continue to develop talent with the digital skills, sustainability mindset, and practical experience needed to support Taiwan’s tourism industry.
