Fraud Alert: Verify Before You Respond or Share Personal Information
Recently, parents have reported receiving calls from individuals outside the university who falsely claimed to be counselors, social workers, or staff members from our center. These callers then asked them to add a private LINE account or provide personal information.
Please keep the following in mind:
- Verify the caller’s identity first.
If you receive a call, ask for the person’s name, job title, and reason for contacting you. If you cannot verify who they are, do not follow their instructions, provide personal information, or add them on LINE. - Verify any request involving personal or financial information.
Our center will never ask for your ATM card PIN, online banking password, mobile verification code, or instruct you to make an ATM transfer. If you receive a suspicious request, contact our center directly to confirm. - Follow official procedures for scholarships and financial aid.
When handling off-campus scholarships or financial aid, our center may contact you by phone or text message to confirm account information. However, we will never ask you to add a private LINE account, transfer money, or provide your bank card PIN. - If in doubt, contact the center directly.
If you cannot verify the caller’s identity, hang up. Do not call back the number they provide or follow their instructions. Instead, use the official contact information listed on the university website to verify the request with our center.
